The Path of a Sage isn’t approaching the state of been a demi-god, yet the Sages are seen as such.
The path isn’t about power, no, the Sages don’t worship power nor lust for it yet they are men of power but wisdom and knowledge is the root of their path but through knowledge powers and every other things come in.
Wisdom is the Sage nearest kin,folly is far from us for with folly comes blindness that leads men into perdition and made them only boast of power and profaned knowledge of destruction.
When Power established his temple the children of men ran to him. They worshipped him and bowed to him. Power, been surprised at this sight, made them his slave and manipulated them as he sees fit for his own fun but to the sight of man they see it as theirs. Some men even make profit from it but less do they know that whatever Power gives out he takes back. He is a selfish, hot tempered God.
Folly created his grounds and made Pleasure his partner, they both appeared to be King and Queen. They sets out their foots to see what’s in the world and they met what they never expected. Lo! What they thought would be their nightmares is their sweetest dreams, they met the children of men, sons and daughters of Adam.
They worshipped these false King and Queen and make their abode with them. The people chased after them and lust for Pleasure, lest do they know that Pleasure is a Queen of disguise, all her beauty has ugliness. Bitterness is her wine but it is sweet on the tongue.
She will give you a cap and desire for your head. Folly is a King that will lead you like a blind man into pit of gold that you will be buried.
Wisdom sets her place, she placed a table in front of her and shelf of books. She called aloud outside, she raises her voice in the open squares; she cries out in the chief concourses, at the opening of the gates in the city: How long, will you simple ones, will you love simplicity?! For scorners delight in their scorning and fools hate knowledge. Turn at my rebuke! Surely, I will pour out my spirit on you; I will make my words known to you.
She did her best. She tried all she could do but the children of men would not listen to her because she is not shining nor does she have crown of diamond or garments of diadems. She is not deceiving nor is she glittering. She appears truly as what and whom she is, but the path of Wisdom is hidden. She only reveal herself to those who choose her.
She stretched out her hands but no one regarded her because they disdained true counsel and would not hear rebukes or take correction.
Well, this Wisdom is whom the Sage finds wholeheartedly. That is the path of a true Sage. It isn’t by searching out power or to become a demi-god or rule the life of their neighbors and conquer their enemies. Yea, the Sages in the end have it all, because every other things are children of Wisdom, be it folly or pleasure, power or riches.
The Precepts of the Sages says:

The parables of knowledge are in the treasures of wisdom.

If you desire wisdom, keep the Commandments, and the Lord shall give her to you.

For the fear of the Lord is wisdom and instruction; and faith and meekness are His delight.

Be not an hypocrite in the sight of men, and take good heed what you say: exalt not yourself, lest you fall, and bring dishonour upon your soul, and so your secrets be discovered, and you be casted down in the midst of the congregation, because you came not in truth, but deceit of heart.

Shun pleasure of the flesh, it does more harm than good.

Set your heart aright, and constantly endure, and make not haste in time of trouble.

Cleave unto wisdom, and depart not away, that you may be increased and arise that state of godhood.

Add not more trouble to an heart that is vexed; and defer not to give to him that is in need.

Whoever shuts his ears to the cry of the poor will also cry himself and not be heard.

Reject not the supplication of the afflicted; neither turn away your face from a poor man.
- Turn not away your eyes from the needy, and give him none occasion to curse you: for if he curse you in the bitterness of his soul, his prayer shall be heard of Him that made him.
- Get yourself the love of the congregation, and bow your head to a great man.
- Let it not grieve you to bow down your ear to the poor, and give him a friendly answer with meekness.
- Deliver him that suffer wrong from the hand of the oppressor; and be not fainthearted when you sit in judgement.

When a man is unable to vanquish his passions, it is because, through the backwardness of his spirit, he takes pleasure in yielding to them. He who controls his passions comprehends his spiritual nature; he knows that every victory over them is a triumph of his spirit over matter.

Matter is that which lead men astray and make them easily bend to foolishness. They keep yielding to the desires of the flesh.

In proportion as men become enlightened in regard to spiritual things, they attach less value to material things; and as they emancipate themselves from the enslavement of matter, they reform the human institutions by which selfishment is fostered and excited.

From selfishness many things came. Evil proceeds from it. Therefore, O Aspirant, study all the vices and you will see that selfishness is at the bottom of many. Combat them as you will, don’t let it enslave or control you. For it will profane and pollute your ascension; you must attack evil in its root. Destroy selfishness and all vain desires which is their cause. It is incompatible with justice, love, charity – the path of a Sage. Selfishness neutralises every good qualities.

Why be a seeker of knowledge to get wisdom, and not hunt for riches to get pleasure?

Wisdom rains down skill and knowledge; it does not bring riches for wisdom is wealth: King govern men, and men with wisdom govern kings.
Oh Aspirant! Open your heart to read and let understanding be the true judge:

Whosoever would know Secrets, let him know how to keep secret things secretly; and to reveal those things that are to be revealed, and to seal those things which are to be sealed: and not to give holy things to dogs, nor cast pearls before swine. Observe this Law, and the eyes of your understanding shall be opened, to understand secret things; and you shall have whatsoever your mind desires to be divinely revealed to you. You shall have also the Angels and many Spirits prompt and ready in their nature to minister to you, as much as any human mind can desire.

All things are possible to them that believe them, and are willing to receive them; but to the incredulous and unwilling, all things are impossible: there is no greater hinderance than a wavering mind, levity, unconstancy, foolish babbling, drunkenness, lusts, and disobedience to the precepts of the path for it is your ladder to reach the top and a lamp for you in darkness.

Live to your self, and the muses: avoid the friendship of the Multitude: be covetous of time, beneficial to all men. Use your Gifts, be vigilant in your Calling; and let the Word of Truth never depart from your mouth; let it beat always with your heart.

Whatsoever you have learned, frequently repeat, and fix the same in your mind: and learn much, but not many things, because a human understanding cannot be alike capable in all things, unless it be such a one that is divinely regenerated; unto him nothing is so difficult or manifold, which he may not be able equally to attain to.

He that desire this knowledge must be willing in his heart and utterly cleansed from all filthiness.

But beware, you must not set out rashly along the path of these transcendental science; once started, you must reach the end or perish. To doubt is to lose one’s reason; to pause is to fall; to recoil is to plunge into an abyss. You, therefore, who are undertaking the study of this book, if you persevere to the end and understand it, you will be either a monarch or madman. Do what you will with the volume, you will be unable to despise or to forget it. If you are pure, it will be your light; if strong, your arm; if holy, your religion; if wise, the rule of your wisdom. But if you are wicked, for you it will be an infernal torch; it will lacerate your breast like a poniard; it will rankle in your memory like a remorse; it will people your imagination with chimeras, and will drive you through folly to despair. You will endeavour to laugh at it, and will only gnash your teeth; it will be like the file in the fable which the serpent tried to bite, but it destroyed all his teeth.

You therefore who seek initiation, are you learned as Faust? Are you insensible as Job? You may become like both if you choose. Have you overcome the vortices of vague thoughts? Are you without indecision or capriciousness? Do you consent to pleasure only when you will, and do you wish for it only when you should? Not at least invariably, but this may come to pass if you choose. The sphinx has not only a man’s head, it has woman’s breasts; do you know how to resist feminine charms? Or you laugh outright in replying, parading your moral weakness for the glorification of your physical and vital force.
Lo! That little I can only give out.
Remember this, Aspirant and ye who desire initiation of the Path of a Sage: The mind is the den of desire, it will assault you with useless representations; ambushes you with its low passions and foolish wishes, rebuke her! “Mind, remove from me these desires, remove from me this passions! I do not accept them from you, you are my slave and I am your Lord, until the end of time”
Only like this will the Aspirants raise themselves above matter.
Oh and who or what is a Sage? In the ancient days, even as it’s recorded in the Bible, they are called Seers, Prophets, Wise Men.
Blessed be those who know the joyful sound.
Blessed is the man who does not defile the Divine Spirit which hath been put and breathed into him, and blessed is he who returns it as pure as it was on the day when it was entrusted to him by his Creator.
Blessed be those with trials and troubles, rejoice because of them, for in them is Strength and by their means is a pathway opened unto the Light which you seek.
